New Stuff!

Well I have been working on a bunch of new stuff and I'm really excited about reporting what I have! I have chalkboards in various sizes, colors, and designs.  They all can be stood on an easel or hung on a wall. I have been using them to take pictures of my jewelry against. I worked last week on them and one of them are going to hang in my new workroom.  It's red with a chalkboard background and I want it to be the first thing that people see when they enter my workspace. It's a picture that I will include in my earring and "crafty" areas.

Wrap Yourself With Me

This is the new picture sent to me by Josh Sykes of 301 magazine.  Don't you just love them. I call it, appropriately, "Wrap Yourself With Me".

Josh has done it for me!  I cannot begin to express how excited I am. He has taken pictures of various "designs" that I've created and they are so good. Apparently, they go to press soon and he was needing information from me so that they could wrap up my ad for 301.  Well, ouila!  We are done!  I'll post pics soon- they are sooooooo wonderful!  The ad shows one of my favorite earrings to make. They are sterling silver with copper wrapped around it.  The end of the earrings has stamped design tags.  I think they truly represent my style more than any other pair. I just thought of them one day while watching TV.  It was truly a light-bulb moment for those, for some reason. I jumped off the couch and made them.  Well, I hope you like them as much as I do.

Today

Well, today, I feel uninspired.  I guess there are creative ups and downs for most designers, but this definitely feels like one of the dreaded "funks" that you go through.  The weather is cloudy and rainy and it's an unexpected turn from last week's beautiful weather. At that point, I was dreaming of going to my backyard to take a million photos of the beautiful pink buds that are all over my trees right now.  But, the weather quickly turned and I think that it has put a shock into my trees' system. I hope that when the weather does brighten that they will quickly bounce back.  Who knows?

Last weekend, I took a trip to Adams, TN, to go antique shopping and went to Adams Antique Mall. WONDERFUL PLACE THAT IT IS! I found so much and I really went overboard.  I found a photograph of a lady named Alice Anthony. I am going to try to find out who she is. I plan on using her photo in my "designs" but wouldn't it be nice to know a little about the lady behind the name (especially now that I have her photo)?  I'll share what info I find out about her in this blog. That would actually be something interesting to follow. I'll also put a copy of her up and we'll start to check into her life....

301 Magazine

New website to check out called http://www.301mag.com/.  Josh Sykes will be photographing jewelry and products from Designs by Sharla and these will be appearing on the blog soon. I'm ultra excited because 301 magazine will also feature my designs in their fashion section of the magazine.  The magazine promos Jackson, TN lifestyle.  Be on the lookout for Designs by Sharla!

Okay- here is the picture that I completed last night from the event at Artifacts.  It was really fun!  I got a chance to meet fellow artist- they knit and have a display at Artifacts. Their names were Sharon and Sandra. Very cool and funny ladies.  Sandra said that I cheated doing this (there is an "oops" and I won't even point it out...).  We had a dose of laughter along with our cheese and crackers.  It made me really want the next class to happen. I think it gave me a good feeling of "unwinding" and there really was no right or wrong results.  It gave everyone the chance to express their artistry in their own fashion.  Very fulfilling experience, especially when you can take home the end result.

Mixed Media

Tommorow, i'm attending a mixed media event at ArtiFacts, the store in town that sells DESIGNS BY SHARLA items. I'm excited because it's a subject matter that i'm very interested in. If you check the links section of my blog, under ArtiFacts, it talks about the events. I'll try to take pictures of my "finished product"and attach it to the blog. 

Well, I just wanted to blog a bit about that and will discuss more later!
